Students welcome international author
16 March 2010
As part of the 2010 Dubai Literary Festival over 70 students from years 6 to 10 hosted Alexander McCall Smith in the L.R.C. in the secondary section.
Mr McCall Smith, a writer of over 60 books, including The No. 1 Ladies Detective Series, his most well known series of books for adults, entertained with amazing stories of his times growing up and visiting Africa. He told them lots of stories from his children's books including his famous Akimbo series, the adventures of the child detectives Max and Maddy and the Harriet Bean series. The students asked him lots of interesting questions including, what inspired him to write, his favourite books and how long he takes to write a novel. Before he left to talk at the main festival he stayed to sign some of his books. The session was really entertaining and enjoyable. Mr McCall Smith had some of the boys acting as ferocious lions and tigers, with Hamad Baker pretending to be the brave Akimbo.
