Primary Foundation Stage
We welcome RSB'S youngest students into our school each September when they are at least 3.6 years old. They remain in our Foundation Stage (FS) for two years.
All FS students work with a caring, experienced and dedicated team of professionals as they begin their journey through school.
Each FS1 teaching team comprises an English and an Arabic Early Years specialist in each classroom. From the outset, students are given the opportunity to develop their Arabic and English language skills. To observe students at this very young age respond to this unique challenge is simply amazing!
The FS1 school day is from 7:30am -12:30pm.
Each FS2 classroom has an English speaking Teacher and Teaching Assistant. An Arabic Teacher works with the children for a minimum of an hour a day on Arabic language skills and Islamic Studies.
The FS2 school day is from 7:30am -2:10pm from Sunday to Wednesday and 12:30 on Thursday.
FS2 students join our Thursday Afternoon Activity Programme towards the end of the school year. When this happens FS students finish at 2:10pm everyday.
Curriculum
Teachers plan from the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum which focuses on six areas of learning. Learning therefore occurs through an integrated play curriculum using well designed and well resourced indoor and outdoor areas. A strong emphasis is on developing English and Arabic language skills. Students enhance their understanding of topics of work by going on school trips to a range of local venues. Specialist lessons in Sound Technology, ICT, PE and Swimming are a feature of the weekly time table. All specialist lessons are conducted in English.
