Welcome to Foundation 2

In FS2 the boys are supported in class by an English teacher and an assistant. Throughout the year they will be encouraged to become more responsible and independent.

Please help your son to prepare for his day at school. Kindly take note of days when he has specialist lessons.

Homework

In FS2 we do not set homework. We do however recommend you speak to and read to your son at every opportunity to promote his skills in both languages. In Term 3 your son will have a reading book once a week to take home.

Communication

You will receive a newsletter during each topic which will inform you of the learning that is taking place throughout that topic. Please take note of the vocabulary being taught and practice these words with your son.

We appreciate  that there are occasions when you need to talk to the teacher about something that is concerning you or your son. In FS2 we have an open door policy. Please feel free to talk to the teachers at anytime during drop-off or pick-up time. Alternatively  telephone the school and we will return your call when we can.

Educational Visits

Throughout the year we support the learning by making many visits out of school to  local places  related to our topics. Students benefit enormously, learning more about their city as well as learning how to behave in public places.

Curriculum

In FS2 we follow the British Foundation Stage Curriculum. All our learning is topic related and  through play. Care an attention is paid to designing both indoor and outdoor activities that are productive, stimulating and fun.

The areas of learning are:

• Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy
• Knowledge  and Understanding of the World
• Physical Development
• Creative Development.

All these areas of learning are integrated within our topics and taught in both English and Arabic.

Specialist Lessons
