Primary Key Stage 2

The enthusiastic, dynamic Key Stage 2 team supports our students throughout the latter part of their Primary education. Students join our committed team at the beginning of Year 3 and continue through until Year 6. During these very important years we support development: academically, socially and emotionally.

We offer a complete academic curriculum. English, Maths, Science, PSHE, Humanities and Art, led by the Class Teacher. These lessons are supported by Teaching Assistants. Specialists lead our Arabic, Sound Technology, Information Communication Technology and Physical Education lessons. We also have a Learning Support team who offer assistance to the Core groups, ensuring our curriculum is accessible to all.

During English Curriculum lessons students are taught as two separate groups. The Core group develops and reinforces necessary skills, while the extension group works to enrich vocabulary and extended learning. Students receive individualised learning programs that most benefit their progress.

Our weekly Sunday assembly celebrates the success of our students through certificates, Green Bands, Library Stars and sporting achievements. Our Thursday assembly offers the opportunity throughout the year to practice public speaking and audience skills.

The extended curriculum offered includes our weekly Activity Programme, Extra Curricular Sports practices and specialist events such as participation in Friendship Games and the RSB Carnival. Each year we produce a Primary Production where the main actors and many of the choir and musicians come from KS2. This requires a great deal of commitment and dedication from the students.

In addition to our in-school curriculum, we also interact with our local community. Each year group tailors educational visits that support and enrich our curriculum. Over night camps are a feature of each year group, progressing from an over-night stay in the school grounds in Year 3 to a 2-night stay at the East Coast in Year 5 and 6. Students are also invited to attend a ski trip to Europe.
