Primary ICT Curriculum
The ICT Curriculum at RSB Primary is based on the National Curriculum of England and Wales.
ICT at RSB Primary is taught by the ICT Specialist, Mr. Peter, and the boys have a weekly 1 hour ICT lesson where they will be taught a wide range of ICT skills and knowledge. The boys will use ICT to support their learning in all areas of the curriculum.
ICT is a well resourced subject area within RSB and we continually look for ways to improve the learning opportunities we offer our boys.
Foundation Stage
Throughout the Foundation Stage teachers use ICT to help support the children across the 6 areas of learning.
In FS1 the boys are not taught by the specialist ICT teacher. Instead the boys use their classroom computers to develop their basic ICT skills.
In FS2 the boys come to the ICT rooms for their weekly lesson. The curriculum is designed to help the boys develop basic mouse and keyboard skills and also to help them to develop an awareness and appreciation for the technology around them.
Key Stage 1
During KS1 the boys explore ICT and learn to use it confidently and with purpose to achieve different outcomes, They start to use ICT to develop their ideas and record their creative work. They become more familiar with hardware and software.
Key Stage 2
During KS2 the boys use a wider range of ICT tools and information sources to support their work in other subject areas. They develop their research skills and decide which information is appropriate for their work. They begin to question the quality of information, They learn how to amend their work and present it in a way that suits its audience.
