H1N1 Prevention Strategies
Back in the summer the world was subjected to a new form of flu, know as H1N1. News of this new pandemic spread quickly and schools around the world were asked to take precautions in order to limit its spread. RSB have been quick to follow all the suggest recommendations from the Dubai government and we have also had the ministry of health come into the school and present all the latest information to the RSB health management team.
One of the latest innovations have been the installation of hand sanitizers in all classrooms. This provides the staff and students with the opportunity to protect themselves at all times during the school day.
Like other influenza viruses, H1N1 influenza is spread by coughing, sneezing, or touching contaminated surfaces and then touching the nose or mouth.
So what can you do to prevent catching this flu? It really is simple but important habits, such as:
- Washing your hands regularly.
- Covering your mouth and nose when you sneeze or cough.
- Stay at home if you have any flu like symptoms, especially if you have a temperature.
Symptoms, which last up to a week, are similar to those of seasonal flu, and can include fever, sneezing, sore throat, cough, headache, and muscle or joint pains.
Due to the nature and size of our school we can monitor the staff and pupils closely and have everything in place to make RSB a safest environment possible .
