Shakespeare for Kids

One face, one voice, one habit, and two persons, A natural perspective, that is and is not!

So says Duke Orsino about the twins in Twelfth Night, just two of the many roles that Shakespeare for Kids encouraged the boys at Rashid School to act out this week.

Students in Years 7, 8 and 9 were taken through Macbeth, Twelfth Night, and Romeo and Juliet with wonderful enthusiasm and energy by Rose and Adam. They gave out the parts and explained the twists and turns of each play, getting the students to recite the lines that capture so well the wonderful chaos of which the human heart is capable. The students played an exotic mixture of Shakespearean characters including romantic heroes, tragic kings and silly clowns. Through active role-playing, the boys learnt all about the disguises, tricks, mistakes, murders, madness and sheer comic craziness which can be enjoyed in the comedies and tragedies of Mr William Shakespeare. Well done to all the students who donned a cape or laughed at a line, and a big thank you to Rose and Adam from Shakespeare for Kids for their tireless brilliance.
