The Learning Resource Centre

The library has changed to make it a better place for students to read and study. Lower shelving and books organised in a way to make it easier to use mean that the space is now more student friendly. New computers allow students to use online resources to complement research when in the LRC. The library will be called a learning resource centre or LRC because we think the name describes the purpose of the space in a more appropriate way.

We are in the process of changing the range of resources available to provide a more focused collection which will include a section for graphic novels, audio books and magazines covering a wide range of interests. There is also an extensive range of books written in Arabic.

The library management system Eclipse is used for managing book circulation and provide reports on reading trends. In addition the Searchstar module is available across the school network enabling students to manage their loans, reserve items and to write book reviews.

The LRC will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning as well as holding events to encourage reading, research and independent learning.

Watch this space for regular updates.
